This curriculum outlines the scope of training that will cover the trade member from entry level to a point where the Fitter/Technician should be able to handle any situation involving the use, design, installation, maintenance, and service of gas fueled equipment.
Courses will be tailored to meet local government requirements. Where applicable, program accreditation is sought through the appropriate government authority. Once the overall scope is determined for each program, the total minimum hours will be assigned in order to plan the presentation to the personnel involved in the training.
Mathematics, as it applies to this trade, is a necessary component in this program. If required, a separate course on the use of formulae, calculations, etc. is offered as a preamble to this overall course. This course involves approximately four, six to eight-hour days in order to cover the necessary material.
There are a total of 32 units for the basic program, but, depending on safety acts, laws, regulations, and requirements of the various levels of government, the Fitter/Technician is obliged to be thoroughly trained and certified through this type of program.
